Borough Receives Two Municipal Honors Print E-mail

 

Brentwood Borough is happy to announce its designation as a Banner Community by the Allegheny League of Municipalities. Boroughs and townships are selected for the program based upon adherence to a number of good governance principles, such as participation by employees and elected officials in educational workshops, involvement in a council of governments, and active communication to citizens.

 

The Borough has also recently attained a "silver" level rating from Sustainable Pittsburgh in the Sustainable Communities Certification Program. This award is bestowed to municipalities that have demonstrated a significant committment to practices that will preserve town prosperity for future generations. They enrollment survey covers topics a diverse assortment of topics including finance management, energy usage, recycling, transportation, and economic development. "Silver" certification is also contingent upon having a strong public outreach program, as applicants are required to provide supporting documentation on the municipal website for at least fifty percent of affirmative responses.

State Senator to Hold Office Hours in Brentwood Print E-mail

 

State Senator Jim Brewster, who represents a Brentwood Borough in the upper house of Pennsylvania's legislature, will hold satellite office hours at the municipal building on the first and third Wednesdays of April, May, and June.  Staff will be on site from 1PM to 4PM to answer constituent questions and address concerns. Borough Looks to Hire New Director of Recreation Print E-mail

 

Although Brentwood's Department of Parks & Recreation only recently sprouted from humble beginnings, it has already made a tremendous impact on the community.  In order to ensure the continued sustainability of our programs and events, the Borough is seeking to fill the open position of Director of Recreation. Prospective candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation administration, or a related field and have a minimum two years experience in recreational program management. Borough Council has not yet determined whether the successful applicant will be employed part time (24 hours per week) or full time (40 hours per week). Additionally, this position will require occasional night and weekend work for the purposes of overseeing programs and attending meetings with elected officials. Candidates must possess current CPR/First Aid certifications.
