A building permit is not required for routine repairs of maintenance; however any improvement that involves new construction, a structural alteration or any addition DOES require a permit.
Permits are required for but not limited to the following:
- Fences (The Brentwood Zoning ordinance regulates construction and maintenance of fences, in particular fences are to be no more than 4' in height and are permitted only behind the front of the building line.)
- Signs
- Swimming Pools
- Building Demolition
- Utility Sheds
- Garages
- Porches
- Street Excavations
- Sidewalk and Curb Cuts
- Sewer Taps
Please call the Building Inspector/Zoning Officer before making any commitment to a contractor or home improvement company.
