Brentwood Borough Goes "Smoke Free" Print E-mail
No Smoking on Borough Property Ordinance is approved unanimously.

Brentwood, PA, May 28, 2008:  During the April 23, 2008 Business Meeting of the Brentwood Borough Council, Ordinance No. 1170 was unanimously passed prohibiting smoking on any Borough-Owned Property.  Article IV. Prohibition of Smoking on Borough-Owned Properties states that smoking shall be prohibited in or on, but not limited to, the following Borough-Owned properties:

a.)      Borough Municipal Building
b.)     Borough Library
c.)      Borough Stadium
d.)     Borough Swimming Pool
e.)      Borough Park (including baseball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts)

The above locations include every room, chamber, place of meeting or public assembly to the extent such place is subject to the jurisdiction of the Borough.  Article V. Reasonable Distance provides an area where smoking shall be permitted which is a reasonable distance outside any area where smoking is prohibited.  These places will be identified and marked accordingly.  This Ordinance will be enforced by the Borough Police Department.  Any citizen violating this Ordinance will be given a Notice of Violation (NOV) and be subject to a fine up to two hundred dollars ($200) for each violation.  The Effective Date of this Ordinance is April 23, 2008.
