The Brentwood Park Initiative (BPI) group has also been moving forward.  Identified as the Community Steering Committee for this project, the group continues to make strides in raising the much needed funds that will be a necessity for the implementation of this multimillion dollar project.  To date the group has raised nearly $100,000 through fundraising activities and contributions.  The group is comprised of members of the Brentwood Borough Council, School Board, coaches, parents, and concerned citizens.  The BPI is in the process of obtaining official non-profit status as they continue to work towards their application for 501c3 status.  The BPI continues to meet regularly on the second Thursday of each month from 7pm – 8pm at the Brentwood Borough Community Room located downstairs of the Library.  These meetings are open to the public and has been gaining more attendance and participation each month.

During the March 12th regular meeting of the BPI, representatives from J.T. Sauers presented a PowerPoint presentation that included various preliminary ideas and options they have been working on.  The primary goal of the workshop meeting was to get feedback/input from the group on these various alternatives and options.  In summary, some outcomes of this workshop meeting regarding the main components of the study/plan were the following:

• Include a 400 meter track around the football field and relocate the affected two (2) baseball fields somewhere else in the park.
• A possible new location for the existing basketball/tennis courts was proposed.
• A possible new location for the proposed Skateboard park.
• Investigate passive recreation areas (more pavilions) along with a life walking trail
• Utilize synthetic turf on the football field.

These were only some ideas that were discussed as part of the “brainstorming” exercise.  More input will be obtained from other individuals as well as from the community at large.  J. T. Sauers is currently conducting one-on-one interviews with council and some other key stakeholders in the community.  A Community Wide meeting is being planned so that everyone will have a say in this process.  If you have any suggestions, ideas, or comments on what you would like seen in the park, pool, or stadium areas please feel free to send me an email at .  I will then forward your email to J.T. Sauers & Associates.  Remember, this is YOUR  Community Wide Project and it will only be as good as the information and data gathered by the people who will be using this soon to be “state of the art” facility for the years to come.   Look for updates in both the Briefly Brentwood Newsletter as well as your local newspaper.
