Bullying Among Important Youth Tech Issues Addressed in Video Print E-mail

As part of our ongoing anti-bullying initiative, the Borough is pleased to provide resources to parents to combat the deleterious effects of this practice. A recent installment of "Nick News,"  a news magazine program designed especially for teenage audiences, featured a discussion of cyberbulling by our very own Councilwoman Stephanie Fox. This episode delves into the new world of privacy concerns that has been opened by the proliferation of social media and mobile devices. The presence of teen and adult perspectives provides a balanced view on these evolving issues. To access this episode for free through the Nickelodeon website, click here.

Bullying Seminar a Resounding Success Print E-mail

Brentwood Borough recognizes that youth bullying is not simply an internal educational problem.  Rather, it is a societal ill that can impact students long after the final bell of the school day rings.  Brentwood has enacted a municipal ordinance that is designed specifically to combat this abusive and harrassing behavior. However, the Borough recognizes that it cannot simply legislate change.  Consequently, officials have partnered with the Brentwood School district to raise awareness of this critical issue.  On May 14th, both organizations jointly sponsored an appearance by former professional wrestler Marc Mero.  A powerful man with a powerful message, Mr. Mero gave a deeply personal presentation to students in grades six through eleven.  His lecture was designed not only to convey information to perpetrators on the effects of their actions but also to encourage victims to reach out for assistance.  For more information, the website of Marc's organization.
